Howdy And Good Morning Ray!
First...Yes, I'm a Vietnam era Vet. I spent the end of 69 and all of 70 in the 20th Engineers, digging ditches LOL!. Seriously though many Vets are worse off than me. I think of them all the time because I see many of them daily. Lake county has a huge population of Vets, mostly from the Army & Marines. It's great when we can help each other out too! I welcome them all home! Now, even though I was in the Engineers, I'm quite sure our math formula's wouldn't agree ( Not my forte' )? I would
think though that using 6x6's would solve the support problem? Here's a theory you may be too young to have heard, LOL? I bought a waterbed back in the day and the salesman told me that there's no more weight per square foot than a refridgerator puts on a floor. It seems very plausible because everywhere I moved that bed, it never broke a floor. The best sleep I ever got too! I would think the bottom supports would carry the top load especially if the floor joists are 2x8's ? Remember, the joists are tied togetherand braced to spread the load of whatever reasonable weight is placed on that floor. Give your local big box a call just to check my theory, I think it's pretty sound. W
