To make things easier for when they spawn. I would take the two females and the two largest showing no signs of color, keep those together and separate the others. When a pair spawns they are very aggressive towards any intruders. If the others are left together, the smaller convicts who haven’t paired will be the pairs first target. For territory reasons, they say to allow 20 gallons of tank per breeding pair if more then one pair are housed together. This I however haven’t found very useful and I believe it all has to do with how your tanks arranged. For instants a tank with many areas to breed (rocks, caves, flower pots, ect.) and a lot of coverage can house more pairs then a tank 10 gallons bigger with little coverage and fewer breeding sites. I wouldn’t bother adding the clay flower pots, stacked slate in my opinion should work even better then the flowerpots.
