Convicts Convicts by far have to be the easiest fish I've bred. First make sure you have a pair, the female when sexually mature will have some orange or red near her belly. Next sit back and you should see some eggs in a few weeks (if it even takes that long). Convict prefer to bred in private areas so be sure your tank has lots of trees and/or hiding places. Also most convict will lay their eggs in clay flower pots that are tipped on their side, so it would be a wise idea to add a few. I would recommend that you only use a sponge filter when breeding. I prefer not to use gravel in my breeding tank, it makes cleaning more difficult and a lot of times babies will swim under and get crushed.
