Hi Thanks for the visit. To answer your question, yes there are two 250w MH bulbs for a total of 500w. It generates a huge amount of heat and quite the electrical bill too. It's probably overkill for my tank and I should have gotten less. I had trouble like you with the tank water getting too hot and losing stock. I have no room to add a chiller so I do the best I can with a room air conditioner and a fan in the summer. Drives the electrical bill even higher. When I can afford it I think I may get the programmable LED lights that another FC member told me about. I think they run around $1500 or more though so it will be quite awhile. I look forward to seeing how your tank progresses. I'm still figuring this all out myself. Fish Art is a great person to field questions too. As I'm sure you saw, his tanks have the healthiest and most beautiful coral stock. Good luck sneaking coral past your wife, lol! Vote.
