Well, today I came downstairs to see Louie, the dad of my convict fry, waiting at the front of the tank with the fry, but May was nowhere to be seen. After some moments, I found her all beaten up in the cave by the log where the eggs used to be. I was trying to net her to put her in a breeder trap , but I simply could not catch her! Louie kept chasing her around and she was so beaten up she could barely swim upright. I knew Louie would kill her if she was loose any longer, but she managed to evade
my net, which ended up uprooting about seven plants that take FOREVER to stick in the gravel.
I ended up skidding the gravel with the net. That made me think that I killed some fry with my flying net. I burst into tears and managed to catch Louie, so I stuck him into the trap and watched May in the log, looking like she was going to die. I had no idea what to to, and I had killed some of my fry, so I went back upstairs crying. I have no idea how long my mom and I were sitting on the staircase, but eventually we went back down.
May was scratched up, but she had come out of the cave and was busily gathering her fry and spitting them back into a little herd. I spent an hour watching May and the fry. It was like she came back to life...
I put a lid on Louie's breeder trap because I totally wouldn't put it past him to jump out.
I forgot how tiring it is to cry...
In other news: we have two inches of purdy snow! |
