Saltwater lights? So are they metal halide or pc or regular flourescent that you have now? My system is by Aquatic life. It has 4 t-5's and moon lights. Teh blue t-5s come on for about an hour of sunrise then the full lights go on then they go off and only the blue lights remain for about an hour to simulate sunset. Then the moon lights in the system kick in. Wow, the first night the system was hooked up my angels went crazy. They all seemed to glitter under the leds and they say that it increases breeding activity. It's so nice because o the built in timers. I love them!! I would think that MH would be way too intense for discus. When I told the salesman when I was looking at new lights what I planned (adding the discus) he sent me to this model. The t-5's he explained were like watching your television in high def, and he is right. I could see a difference right away. First I had purchased a cheaper two bulb t-5 unit and everyone had always complimented me on how crystal clear my tank was, when we put the first little t5 set on it was like OMG I can't believe what I am seeing in that gravel! Then I travedl to a huge fish store and talked to the stores marine biologist for recommendations, I have never regretted the system!
