Greetings!
I'm glad you agree its a fisherman's haven! Some time back I took a couple of buds to a place about 20km from us, a place called Kromdraai. Typical of a conservancy, fishing is restricted and forbidden in some areas due to the presence of hippos. We cast our lines and noticed a few of them across the river. They submerged and the next time we saw them they were just 20m or so away. It was clear that they wanted to see what we were up to. I asked the guys to stay calm and see how it pans out, they were so freaked we left for another stream I know. But hippos are Africa's number one killer. They are responsible for more deaths than any of the other game you find out here. They will even go as far as toppling boats over to gore the occupants. I've always watched documentary shows about Yellowstone, its amazing, from the landscapes to the rivers, canyons and wildlife, and the sheer size, its a place I would like to visit. I have seen shows about just how dangeous bears and moose are. They rank up there with our big beasts. Back to fishing, tilapia, tiger fish, catfish, the many types of barbs, perch and carp are what I usually fish for, as I live inland. For us the Vaal and its tributaries and dams are where we usually go. There is a multi-million rand industry based on angling. Check out: http://www.tightlines.co.za/ sometime if you have a moment. Otherwise, thanks for the vote and here's a couple for you too! Cheers! Stokes
