Continued.... You'll note a number of cichlid, cyprinid and catfish species in the freshwater category. Some, like mozambican brooders are kept in aquaria. The eastern coast is the southern most reefs in the Indian Ocean and there are a number of angelfish, moray eel, triggerfish and other species kept in salwater aquaria. Our coasts also yield a lot of prawn, lobster and crayfish as well as abalone, oyster and other invertebrates. While the east coast is warm, the western Atlantic coast is cold and the fish vary greatly to the warmer water species. I don't do a lot of fishing lately, but I do enjoy sometime in the outdoors. In the eastern and north east there are real threats like hippos and crocodiles. There are ways to avoid them, like keeping away from the water. I've been to St. Lucia Estuary, which is great fishing, but hippos, crocs and other wildlife are abound and caution is advised. Mostly gthe animals will stay away from humans, except crocs which see fisherman as an easy meal, or hippos which are generally hostile and dangerous animals. If you decide to visit Africa for fishing, in my opinion, Kariba and Zambezi in Zimbabwe, where you catch tiger fish, is rated very highly. take care. Nice lobster. Voted. Cheers! Stokes |
