The news: (copy-pasting from what I've been telling Lizzie)
5/20/09 news-Oh, and so yesterday I went to PETCO and got a okay orangish-yellowish male swordtail. He isn't by any means a lovely bright male with immaculate fins, in fact, his sword if rather funny-looking. But he was the only male in the tank that day, and the other tanks had no males. Figures, it was Tuesday, and PETCO gets deliveries on Thursday. So I got him and we named him Knick Knack. Mom suggested the name. It was kind of funny, I got home and she came downstairs and she's like "What did you name the new fish?" and I said "I haven't named him yet" and she thoght i said his name was Knick Knack. And she said "Knick Knack?" and I was like "huh? I said we didn't name him yet". And she was kinda like hey that's not a bad name why don't you name him knock knack? And I figured it was cute enough, and it's close to Tick Tock except not too close, which drives me crazy when a friend dies and some one suggests i name it "____Junior". The ___ is whatever died. So yeah. It's Knick Knack, a lot easier to say than type hah lol.
5-21-09 news: Well, I guess I always though Knick Knack was a poor-quality, mostly because his sword was sort of bent and odd-looking. Now I see it as a a charming little nick. Last night I was watching them with the lights of, and the room light on, when I saw a flash of blue and wondered when I got neon tetras. I looked and there was Knackky, his caudal peduncle in a lovely blue iridescent sparkle. He actually is gorgeous when the lights are out, and his caudal peduncle just shone so beautifully. He still has the funny looking sword, and instead of thinking him as a not so nice orange-red sword, I think of him as some sort of red-pineapple sword strain, maybe? He definitely is prettier than I thought. I'll try to see if maybe he had a black neon sword grandpa or something? |
