Hello I've done both, bought locally and ordered online. Live aquaria is usually very good and has a good selection. I just don't care to be locked down to await shipment and having to pay the large shipping fees. We do have one store about 40 min away that specializes in reef critters and coral and another place a little closer that sells fish and coral too but is not as specialized. We take regular trips to both. A vote for you today.
