Hi T
I think he's making too much of a mess in the tank. He sends up clouds of sand. I have cut way back on my feedings. I used to feed the corals regularly and stopped doing that while the nitrates are up. I found out my thermometer was not reading properly too. What I thought was about 78-79 was actually in the mid 80's according to a new thermometer. It probably cooked some of the corals. I think one of my main problems is that the darn tank is too narrow and there's alot of dead space in the back that I can't help. It's only a foot wide. I had to stack the rock pretty much up against the back wall. I've got 4 korelia pumps going with a wavemaker but they seem to be sticking alot. I'm going to have to dismantle them and clean the impellars I guess. I should take a week off work just to try to straighten out the tank! I wish I had room for a bigger tank but it's not in the cards yet. This little hovel is crammed packed already. The whole neighborhood used to be a community of beach houses so they're pretty much winterized shacks. Oh, I have a Coralife RO/DI 3 stage unit too. I'm going to do another water change tommorrow. I think the dummy has disturbed too much in the sandbed and upset the filtration. He's made big trenches. I spend most nights yelling at him and shaking my finger at him. He just throws snails at me. Have a good one my friend, talk later.
