I have all female platys so no babys running around. I have been trying to get more into live plants but my parents don't like me spending alot on my fish. I do have one live plant that I highly recomend for your first plant. It is Hornwort, it does well in low ligh or high light and grows really fast it is a floating plant and doesn't grow roots. I do have a piece tied to a rock so it grows from the bottom of the tank and looks nice. I have to trim the plant like every week it grows like nuts. Really hard to kill and if you cut a shoot off it grows into another plant. My betta loves it.
