Beginning the Switch I've begun preparing my tank for the final stage. I've removed the prior HOB filter (the Emperor 280) I had on there now that the Eheim canister seems to be maintaining quality pretty well. I'll monitor the water the next day or two for any changes in quality but it should be fine. I'll probably swtich the substrate this weekend; however, I will be leaving about 1/4 of the current gravel to maintain some of the bacteria colonies in there and will provide one dose of Cycle to ensure conitnuity of the nitrogen process to limit any mini cycles. Once that's done, I'll probably get some more plants from the store. Though I will most likely just snip and trnasplant the Anacharis from my Cichlid tank and it is growing fast and has already doubled in lenght.
