Greetings!
Hi J! Thanks for the vote. Nice to hear that you will be visiting Florida! Good on your son! I’m a sucker for the ocean too. We stay about 6 hours away from the closest shoreline. Florida featured some time ago on one of the travel programs on TV. It looks beautiful! And Miami looks like a place I would sure like to visit. Here too, in the middle of winter it would be cold up here and in Durban on the east coast its warm like summer. Your son’s love is admirable! Full honours there. The monkeys were in their numbers there. We had a troop pass by every morning and evening. They are so accustomed to having humans around, and they frequently try and steal food from the locals. We were warned to lock our windows when we go out. They are not at all dangerous, I haven;’t heard of them attacking humans. Baboons, now those are another bunch. I was glad they were not around. They are more opportunistic and have known to attack humans, especially children. When we went to Cape Point some years back, there were many. But there are guards on hand with tazers that stun the baboons if they misbehave. In that region, the baboons raid homes, terrorise the kids and pets, especially dogs. They steal the washing from the line and misbehave, some of the residents shoot them. Its in that area that the Portuguese sailor Bartholamew Diaz landed and posted a cross there, where he christened the Cape ‘Cabo de boa esperanca’, Cape of Good Hope in the 1490s’ He never quite made it to India, but the next voyage under Vasco da Gama did. How’s the weather in Wyoming this time of year? I was just wondering if you guys are getting any signs of winter yet. Its warming up quite nicely, today is around 82F. Should be a lovely weekend. Its rather windy and dusty this time of year. Take care. Kind regards, Stokes
