Greetings! Hi! You’re welcome. I don’t claim to be any expert on plants, but I’ve had some success here and there. Flourite makes a good substrate for a heavily planted or what some call a ‘Dutch’ aquarium. These days some aquarists have devised methods that harness the natural fermentation by yeast cultures in biological CO2 reactors which lead into a diffuser, so one does not need a tank for the gas. The main thing about such heavily planted tanks is that you select species that will not destroy the plants. Usually soft water fish that like acidity make good candidates. Plants do well in softer more acidic water, as it retains CO2 while harder more alkaline water favours O2. But before you go out on a limb and get all sorts of stuff, try the fertiliser and the lights and from there perhaps you can decide on what degree you would like your tank to be planted. Just how old are you? Hope you don’t mind. I’m 32 by the way. Its just that you said you asked your mom so I’m thinking you’re at least a teen. Anyway, age is not important, friendship and shared interest in this fabulous hobby is! ;-D I hope your mom agrees to it. Basically any form of Eastern martial arts would benefit you in many ways. Apart from teaching you self defence, it teaches you patience, understanding, discipline and certain life skills. It will build up your confidence and keep the mind clear as well as strengthen your powers of concentration and allow you to focus. The fitness and strength will help you succeed in other sports and you will find that your studies will improve as well, because your mind is still and your concentration and focus is sharper. Nice that Max’s family can be traced and brought together. That must have been real neat! When I was younger I also used to have puppies every now and then. Over here people battle to feed their families and well, pets are relegated to eating scraps. It was so sad to see many of the puppies with mange and in bad shape. Jess may have issues from her previous owners; maybe they encouraged her barking that causes it. Well my friend I wish you well with your planting and good luck with your mom letting you join karate. Have a lovely weekend. Cheers! Stokes |
