Greetings from South Africa!!
Hi Jane! Good to hear from you, mi amiga! Estoy bien, gracias, mi familia esta todo buena. Sorry to hear about your computer troubles, I hope it is sorted real soon. I thought perhaps you were not seeing my posts due to the computer troubles. So my friend Roberto from Spain has been teaching me a few words here and there. I’m learning but very slowly. I copied the Gipsy Kings greatest hits and asked him to translate the lyrics for me. Unfortunately he speaks Castillian Spanish and although he tried and got most of it down, the language sung by the gypsies is in fact a dialect which contains words that are not found in mainstream Spanish. I’m guessing you probably speak a closer dialect, even though the Roma gypsies are local to Spain, and Mexico is so far from Spain and has evolved independently of the Leonese, Castillian and other dialects of Espanol. Rather interesting bit of information I was not aware of. Your pictures are great. Its good to have finally seen your kids. I’m betting they look like you? Or like their dad? You should get additional Vit. C and Echinacea to build up your immune system before it arrives. My wife’s sister’s wedding was great! We enjoyed it immensely, a feast of food and drink and family, we had a great time preparing and it all ran smoothly, thanks to my wife and sis-in-law who thought of everything. We went to the coast thereafter, in fact later that evening. The groom’s family accommodated us in accordance to their tradition of hosting the bride’s immediate family, thereby strengthening ties. They are of Indian heritage, and that is what they so. I thought it was nice of them. We only stayed the weekend as I couldn’t get leave form work. Nonetheless, it was a glorious break from the cold up here. The east coast of South Africa is subtropical, is well watered and very lush as a result. The sea is warm and boasts some of the last virgin dive sites in the world. The southernmost reefs are found there. I have put some photos up on Grandpa’s site, so you can get an idea of how the place looks. They generally grow tropical produce, tea, sugar and coffee, as well as mango, bananas and litchis. Soon after the trip is when we got sick, coming up to a colder altitude very quickly which I imagine shocks the system and lowers immune function. My mom is fine, my dad too. They regularly enj
