Greetings! Hey dude! Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks great! must have been a lovely trip. Yes, the tank is very old indeed. In fact my grand dad is keen on a replacement, but last time we tried pulling that tank out of there we only moved it an inch and was fagged out real quickly. No silly, the fish are not that old. IN fact I wonder just how long fish can live. He’s been through many fish in that tank. Three years and your marine tank looks like it was put together by someone much more experienced. The monkeys raid on the east coast and then we have baboons on the west coast. Both are opportunists which will come into houses to raid kitchens, mess up washing on the line, terrorize the cats, dogs and kids. Monkeys are still pretty tame though they can bite, baboons on the other hand can be dangerous and have huge canines, real agile and very strong. Where I stay up in Gauteng province I’ve seen Cape Cobra, Mozambican Spitting cobra, puff adders, rinkhals and once a rock python. We encountered several specimens on our trips to the bush. A long time ago I used to chop them with a machete before I was enlightened. I used to say that me and snakes have an understanding, once the snake is dead, that is. A good friend of mine who owned a pet store and was a snake enthusiast himself shared all his knowledge with me. Boomslang (tree-snakes), mambas and gaboon vipers are found on the east coast and lowveld, not in our immediate vicinity. Tree snakes from Africa are highly poisonous, but their fangs are not hypodermic and they rely on a chewing type of movement to relay venom. I keep snakes as well. I have a Taiwanese Beauty and a Gray rat snake, both almost fully grown females. One day I plan to do a snake handling course and then I can get my first cobra. Your friends boa will outgrow that tank real quickly. It the reason I didn’t go for a huge serpent, and because my kid is a baby that can be easily killed by such a powerful snake, I’d rather not take the chance. I haven’t seen the dog whisperer, but there was some lady who is an expert with dogs who appeared on Oprah some while back. Flu seems to be going nowhere fast, my wife is sick too, stayed off work today. Anyway you take care there mate and have a lovely day. Kind regards, Stokes |
