Hello! Hiya! Nice to hear it is finally warming up! Here it was cold for abour three days, but since today its cleared up and the sun is shining full force with now one cloud in sight. The temperature is around 72F now but due to drop to around 40-50F at night. All in all not bad, but it is early for such cold temps. We usually get this in Jun or July. But it has rained a lot so I guess the ground will retain a lot of cold overnight. Glad you find the snakes interesting. My folks and family are not too thrilled about it and constantly ask me to either sell or give them away. It stems from both Christian belief of Satan's buddy teh serpent who was instrumental in misleading Eve and Adam, and the tribal belief that snakes are evil. Some tribes like the Zulu for example do not like fish as a result, as the fish is deemed to be an aquatic snake (sic). They also consider someone who posesses snakes to be an evil witchdoctor. Anyway we are not exactly tribal and I'm not religious, so I keep them anyway. Just hope I don;t get burnt at the stake or something! The taiwanese beauty will eventually grow to 2-> 2.5m and the grey rat seems to have stopped at 1.8m. Funny thing, salamanders are banned here, they are not native to Africa and hence if they were somehow let loose and breed, our native amphibians could suffer as a result. I was considering getting a boa, but they grow big, need large enclosures and I prefer the medium sized constrictors instead of the reticulated pythons and anaconda types. Mostly because I have seen just how badly one can be injured by one of those! Take care! Cheers! Stokes |
