Greetings! You're welcome! Well, it depends on whether you're going for wild discus or the domestic strains. With wild discus you will initially have to mimic their water parameters and its only experts that keep them. Discus bred in your locality are best to start with, as most breeders grow their stock out in local tap water with minor adjustments. I do not use any blackwater treatments or peat, but you are welcome to do so. Discus can adapt to local water slowly, so if you add more tap water with each water change, they will adapt just fine.
