Tigers in Africa??
Yes, tigers are not native to South Africa or Africa. The ones depicted in that photo are Bengal tigers, however we have South China Tigers in South Africa too. They are in a breeding program aimed at raising the populations of those species, as their numbers dwindle in their natural habitats. The program has successfully bred many tigers over the last five years. South Africa has very tough anti poaching laws and hefty penalties, so they stand a much better chance out here. They are of course seperated from the rest of the crowd in the reserve part of the park. In their natural habitats they are hunted down and seen as a menace, whereas here in South Africa they are surviving. There's a movie about this effort, I think the film maker is John Varty, check it out some time. Another vote for you dude! Cheers! Stokes
