snakes
i have never owned a snake and will probably not, my wife is terrified of snakes and i really dont want to subject her to one, but i have handled and worked with snakes a bit, but in no way am i an expert, what i can tell you is that the most important part of getting a snake is to read up and do your homework on the species you want to keep, that way you will know what it needs before you get one, basic husbandry applies, constant daily cleaning of cage/tank, food and clean water, they need a good heat sorce and a clean invironment to help keep them healthy and mite free, food should be in form of a dead mouse probably a frozen one and thawed out before you feed it to the snake to reduce wounds inflicked by a live mouse, they have teeth they will bite the snake, most pet shops sell frozen mice/mouse/rats and if not i am sure if you ask them they can pre kill a mouse for you, get some tongs and dangle dead mouse in the cage/tank for feeding a live false response, feeding is a personnel issue some folks feed a large meal once a month, some will feed twice a month smaller size rodents, some will feed every 10 days, a hungry snake is a mean snake it will bite, with pythons and constrictors they do not see like you or me they only see a heat pattern they are not to visual on the eye site only have great heat sensors for eyes and if they are hungry and you stick your hand in to get the snake out it will bite your hand thinking it was food, and a python bite is very painfull and are hard to get them to let go, i have been bitten by a green anaconda before i was bleeding pretty badly and it so hurts, but do read, there is tons of info out there either books or the web, do your homework aye, be good and heres a vote..><}}}"> |
