Hello!
I have to apologize for not responding to your entry (back in June) until now. Truth is, I haven't been on the site very often over the past year or so, lack of time and effort on my part! Anyway, thanks for the comment about my tank; I'm glad you like it. I spent about 9 months putting together the filtration system, lighting in the tank and inside the stand (no more flashlight needed to be able to see inside the stand to find thigs), and just getting the set up ready to put into the room and add fish. I have a canister filter inside the stand and about a foot or so of flexible tubing between the filter and the pvc pipe that makes up the rest of the plumbing for the tank. I built an adjustable spray bar with fittings that allow the holes in the pipe to be rotated, changing the flow of the water and I can also add aeration to the water with it also. I added an in-line heater/thermostat to the return line and love it! It keeps the tank temp at a constant 79.0 degrees. I used aquarium sealant to attach air line into the back corners of the tank so you cannot see the supply lines to the air stone wands. Inside the stand I added shelving, a power strip, filter, air pump & lights (a small 12" florsecent light fixture on each side and enough space to store all of my supplies, including 5 gal. buckets. I illuminate the tank with a 4' florescent daylight bulb & a small fixture with 3 blue LED lights on either side of the tank that are on timers. I use artficial plants, because it makes cleaning the tank easier & I like to rearrange the surroundings inside the tank (especially when I add new fish).
