Hi there, gogoDanio!
I don't think that we've met but, thanks for the comments that you left on my blog site. I’m glad that you enjoyed the pictures and my tank set up. I've been taking care of fish for nearly 40 years and have had a variety of tank sizes during that time. I had a 40 gal set up for many years, and last Sept my wife got me a 75 gal tank, (that I’d been wanting for many years), and stand for my B'day. It took me until this spring to get it ready to make the swap from the 40 gallon tank. I bought some PVC pipe and fittings and made my own "hard pipe" supply & return lines from the tank to the new canister filter. I also added shelving inside and a top to the stand; and attached small florescent lights to the underside of the top, to light up the inside of the cabinet (no more groping in the dark or with the use of a flashlight for me). The canister filter ins made by SunSun and is large enough to use on a 100 gal tank, so I don’t have any filtration problems at all. I even made a spray bar for the return line that is about 16 inches long, and really works well. The return line also has an in-line heater (that I highly recommend) built into it and since the tank has been running it has maintained an almost constant 79.0 degrees in the tank. It has varied a few tenths of a degree, but it’s nothing to worry about. This time I have chosen to have Dwarf South American Cichlids and various Tetras in the tank. I also have a few cory cats and dwarf plecos. The problem is that the dwarfs are hard to find; and when they are available they can get pricey. Well, enough for now! Take care, and enjoy your fins.
