Time Flies... Couldn't be a truer statement! I just don't know where the time (days, weeks, months, years...)are going; except way to fast as they fly by! Life is good, so far! My wife and I just celebrated our 37th anniversary on the 11th of Oct by taking a 280 mile ride from our house in Southeastern CT to the complete opposite corner of the state, then into NY state (Millerton) catching Rte 22 north; then turning east onto Rte 344 and stopping near the NY/MA line at a scenic waterfall area called Bash Bish Falls. We were there in the Spring of 1988, and Boy has the area changed...Parking lot, one of those "You Are Here!" maps, portajohns...and a 3/4 mile hike to the fall. It's turned into a real, honest to goodness, tourist trap; without the charge (it's located in a state forest in the lower Berkshires). Today we spent the day preparing for the TS/Huricane Sandy to strike us a blow, (hopefully not too directly) some time within the next day or three! One of the earlier computer models has the eye making landfall WAAAAY too close; but thankfully, it is looking like landfall may be to our south...between Washington DC and just below Long Island, NY. Only time will tell! During the late spring this year we had a Mitsubitsi "ductless" air conditioner installed. There is a somewhat small unit that mounts on an outside wall and the lines are run down along the wall (contained in a conduit) to a compresor unit that is mounted on a concrete pad (under the stairs to the deck). While the electrician was making his connections< I gave him a hand running a heavier cable to the outside wall and installing a box with a connection for my generator. There is a rather large box that is mounted next to the electrical breaker panel and it has a switch lever to switch from the "street power" to the generator, and is supposed to prevent backfeeding power to the street; and it will run everything in the house because it is powering the entire panel. So even the fish tank (which is doing well) will not be without power, as long as we can get gas, that is! Fingers are crossed that things don't get too messy around here. The last time we had a strong storm hit, we lost two large (20" +) diameter trees, come crashing down in the back yard (away from the house) doing very little damage, with the exception of a long process of cleaning them up! Best wishes to all, especially to those that are going to be effected by this approaching storm. Good luck to all of us! |
