Hi! When my goldfish in the pond have babies, the babies are almost always born black, but then turn gold over time. I have a few however, that stay black for a much longer time, but eventually they have all turned gold (or white). Maybe Chester is just getting older, and hasn't gotten his full color yet? You'll have to post pictures when he gets to looking different. Have a great day. Left a vote for you.
