Monday Hello! Season's Greetings to you Stokes! Enjoyed reading about SA. Such a different way of life than what we have here. We have to go to the Kansas City Zoo to see zebra, camels, lions, giraffe, ect. Actually enjoy doing that so much that every year we purchase a membership. One of the cooler things that we haven't done for years is go to a local park that has an animal enclosure with elk, bison and white tailed deer. You can actually feed them through the fence (apples, pears, and carrots) and the kids absolutely love it. They do tours which we've never checked in to. Nothing like your safaris, I am sure! The HIV and Aids epidemic in SA is alarming. And devastating. I've watched shows on it...one that stands out was about "Aids Orphans." I can only imagine the emotional impact this has on these children. I live in Raytown which is a suburb of Kansas City. Gangs are becoming more of an issue and crime is getting worse year by year. Kids are already bused in from the inner city (Raytown has accredited schools)and now that Kansas City schools have lost their accredidation (as of this new year) more kids will be given the option to be bused into our school district. The high school has already changed so much and the amount of disrespect is shocking. High school is NOT like it was when I was a teen. By the time my 10 year old is in high school we might have to consider other options if this down-hill spiral continues. I finally got my little 10-gallon tank up and running and put my red betta, Winey, in it with an oto, snail, and many ghost shrimp. If I happen to luck-out and find some dwarf pea puffers then Winey will be back in his fish bowl. The weather is so crazy here. In the 60's for several days. Just never know how to dress any more! Lol! Today it's colder and windy. I see 60's are creeping back in later this week though. Ugh! Makes for a hard time for us with allergies. Just ready for it to get cold and stay cold for a while. Is that too much to ask for?! Lol! Hope you have a wonderful day! Lav4 your truly beautiful tanks. Smiles, Rochelle |
