frozen foods
I have a container (hold around a 1/2 cup) that I add water to and mix up the lovely varieties (um, YUCK) of frozen foods and usually it lasts a week for all my tanks, just adding a tablespoon or so, depending on the day (my fish don't get fed every day, only 5 days a week). I do 2 cubes each of blood worms, emerald entree and whatever else in cube form I may have on hand, and a hunk of brine shrimp (probably about 3-4 cubes worth) and then about the same size of krill, but it's big so have to chop it. If I'm adding the pellets and/or some flakes, they get less of the mixture, and more if it's just me being lazy haha. Chopping the krill is weird, they have crazy eyes that are like giant poppy seeds, ewww. But the fish love them. I usually get a good supply of frozen about every 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer, especially since I added krill, and my fish love it all. So, my freezer has a space for all their food in a gallon ziploc (I do leave them in their original packaging cuz the cubes stay better that way) I buy the brine shrimp and krill in a big flat pack, and then there is an area on the top shelf of the fridge, next to the eggs hehe, for all the fish and gecko foods. Frozen is a bit more expensive, but it does last and really brings out the color of the fish while giving them a nice varied diet. I didn't make it to the LFS today, am going Monday instead. Hopefully they'll have some nasty live worms to make my fish very happy! Oh, and I get my glofish from PetSmart cuz they are a dollar cheaper there, 4.99 instead of 5.99 and since I was doing a lot of them, needed to save all the money I could, 3 of each color turned out to be very expensive! Sometimes petsmart has them for only 3.99 and I got 4 at that price. I hope to get a few more when they go on sale again, I sure do like how colorful and active they are! How fun you got lots of giftcards! Wow! Have fun shopping with them!
